The brawl ocurred at Stonewall in June of 1969 to date came after the pride march worlwide.

She was the founder with Silvia Riviera of the group STAR (Stree Transvetite Action Revolutionaries), STAR, which acronym in English means “Street shemales revolutionary act”. Subsequently with Silvia has a foster home where they gave food, clothing and aid for young transvetites in the eastern area of New York.

In 1992, Johnson's body was found floating in the Hudson River, just before the Pride March this year. The police described the act as suicide even though his friends and relatives said it was not a suicide and there were witnesses who saw her being harassed earlier that day near where his body was later found dead. However, attempts by the police investigate the case were unsuccessful.

The spirit of Johnson and his struggle still survives in New York, the band Antony and the Johnsons was named in his memory.
