Christine Jorgensen

Christine (may 30, 1926 – may 3, 1989) was the first widely-known individual to have sex reassignment surgery—in this case, male to female.

Marsha P. Johnson

Johnson was an afroamerican transgender activist who had great popularity in the gay scene and performing arts in New York between 1960 and 1990. She was one of the largest and best- known drag queens at Stonewall was present, as we know an icon of the LGBTI movement. The brawl ocurred at Stonewall in June of 1969 to date came after the pride march worlwide.

Brandon Teena

Brandon Teena (December 12, 1972 - December 31, 1993) was a trans man who was raped and murdered. She was the victim of the worst hate crimes committed in United States in the 90’s.

Herculine Barbin

He was born in Saint – Jean – d’Angely in 1838 and died in Paris in 1868. This is about a french intersex person, who at birth was defined as a woman, but later as a male, after a physical examination.

Nelly Fonseca Recavarren

Nelly Recavarren Fonseca was a brave artist who faced social standards of her time on the basis of a conviction on the real thing. Each of her poems challenges us to unravel the mystery of her true identity; even her enormous talent made sure that the time to become faithful guardian of the secret which involved her real nature.

Claude Cahun

Born in Nantes on October 25th, 1894. It was named after Lucy Renée Mathilde Schwob, but over the years, turned into Claude Cahun, expressed through his poems and photographs inspired by untamed sensibility and intimate nature directed to claim the sexual identities

Esdras Parra

Esdras Parra was born in Santa Cruz de Mora, State of Merida in Venezuela in 1939 and died in Caracas in 2004. She was a poet, essayist, translator and story-writer.

David Reimer

David Reimer (August 22, 1965 as Bruce Reimer – May 4, 2004) was a Canadian man who was born as a healthy boy, but was sexually reassigned and raised as female after his penis was accidentally destroyed during circumcision.

Dana International

Dana International born Yaron Cohen 2 February 1972. She is an Israeli pop singer of a Yemenite Jewish origin. She is most famous for having won the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest with her song "Diva". She is arguably one of the most famous transsexual celebrities in the world. Her career began in 1992, and since then she has released eight albums and three additional compilation albums, positioning herself as one of Israel's most successful musical acts ever.

The purpose of Trans World secretariat is to connect all the activists groups around the world who are working on transgender, transexual or transvestite issues.
