Jaqui
Regards from Puerto Rico
My name is Jaqui Nieves, I am a nurse and I work in a laboratory. I am 47-years-old and I am a transsexual. I would like to tell you that my work treats me as a woman, even though I have not had sex reassignment surgery, but I have had my testicles removed. I seek your help. I would like to know if you could give me the name of any hospital or clinic that does sex reassignment surgery. There are not any in my country. I would also like to know the cost of the surgery. I hope to receive a positive answer to my question.
Take care and a big hug from the charm island.
Your new friend,
Jaqui Nieves
We are happy to know that in Puerto Rico you have the possibility of work and have professional development without any problem or contradiction with your identity. Unfortunately, in other countries this is still a problem we have to fight.
In relation to sex reassignment surgery, in this bulletin, T-Informa N°6, you will find a resume of advantages and disadvantages of such surgeries and we hope it helps you think before you make any decisions.
In our type of work we cannot recommend you to any hospital or clinic, we can only advise you to be sure that the health service you choose is efficient and safe. At least in Peru and in other Latin American countries surgeries are performed by a large number of surgeons, you could access them according to your resources.
We wish you luck in your decision.
