National TransCrefor Meeting

The III National Trans Meeting was held on April 4th, 5th and 6th in the city of Cordova. Twenty seven colleagues from around the country attended the meeting. The reunion was held at the headquarters of the Wings of 422 Fragueiro in Cordova, which is also the headquarters of the Crefor Federatior (1).

In a complete respect and companionship environment the meeting began with an introduction of both the Federation and Transcrefor (2). This part of the event was played by Jose Luis Chaban and Gabriela Galeano.

The trainers were the engineer Maria Laura Otero (Buenos Aires), Mr. Paul Raduski (Buenos Aires), Image and Sound Designer Carla Aquilanti (Buenos Aires). We also had the logistical support of Prof. Jose Luis Chaban (Alas de Cordova), coordination of Gabriela Galeano (Acimis Missioners) and Zulema Paredes (San Juan).

All of us could find experiences that, in a way, exceeded expectations with issues related to the problems of Trans life. The workshop included issues such as sex, gender, sexuality, organizational development. We also questioned about who we are and each partner shared the life experience and I can truly say that it was the most exciting moment of the encounter. Other topics covered were gender identity, documentation, access to health and preventive action, among others.

It was a unique experience for everybody because of the close environment with solidarity and respect.

(1) Crefor is an Federation of Growth and Training in Argentina.

(2) TransCrefor is an area that develops a work toward a population of sexual minorities that are deeply vulnerable in the society of trans population. The basic motivation is the need to tackle a job with a population deeply discriminated, by sexual orientation, gender expression and exercise of the sex trade as a meaning of survival. The work towards this stock is a trans-social and political responsibility of those who intend to change this situation. One of the ways is to work in prevention, training and breaking down the prejudices that exist on this population.
