A local coordination of a international vindication

Manifest against sexual identity disorder
October 2009

This article is the first step of a complex coordination. Trans activists from Barcelona had been working the last two years in a trans manifestation and want to repeat it for third time this October, they are looking for alliances. We want to talk to trans activists from all over the world and propose them to start working in the diffusion of this action.

Our aim is very clear: the mobilization of all of us against sexual identity disorder and the demand of not including it in the next DSM-V and CIE-11 (manuals that will appear in 2012 and 2014 respectively).

The past October 11 th, 2008 eleven European cities made a manifestation with the same topic and the same objectives: Madrid, Barcelona, Vitoria, Bilbo, Donostia,Gasteiz, Lisboa, Zaragoza, Paris, Lille, Bruxelles. ( http://manitransbcn.blogspot.com/ )

The next October of 2009 the objective will still be to stop considering transsexuality as a disease and the intention of conquering a day for this fight in an international stage in order to get the enough pressure to obligate American Psychiatric Association take out transsexuality from its documents as an illness.

We know it is very difficult to coordinate with many cities at the same time, that is why our proposal is, as in the past years, to decide one slogan and four issues for the manifestation, so then each city could write them as they want to.

Finally, we have to remind that the next DSM-V will appear in 2012 so we are on time to demand a change on it.
