New options for a day of No violence against Tran’s people

The survey we start in June had finished with a large number of participants. We say thank you to all those people who participated in the survey and gave their opinion. In order to get known new options for the Day of No violence against Tran’s people we star a new survey, ¡participate!

New survey
Some people give us some information very useful in order to take a good decision to choose the day of No violence against Tran’s people. This is the new options:

  • Second Saturday of October: Trans Day in Europe for eleven years.
  • November 20th: Transgender Day of Remembrance and also Anniversary of Franco’s death in Spain, and Anniversary of Mexican Revolution.
  • May 4th: First Law of Gender Identity in the world, Turkey 1988.
  • April 3th: date in which was created the ILGA Trans Secretariat.

Some people said the day for No violence against Trans people should be a new day, no a date with other significance. So, an interesting option is second Saturday of October that in Europe already celebrates Trans Day to make visible Trans population. This year will be the twelve year of this celebration.

November 20 that was the day that receive majority of the votes had the problem that the same day is the anniversary of Franco’s death in Spain and in Mexico is the anniversary of Mexican revolution. This present the problem to choose a world wide date for a global action.

Somebody suggest February 22 could be a good day to fight against violence of trans people because it remember the death of Gisberta in Portugal but, unfortunately, in all the countries there is a dramatic death and all are as important as the rest, we couldn’t choose one instead of other.

It is also truth that one day is not enough but is a manner in which little by little will know about trans people and their problems.

¡Vote in the survey!

Your vote is very important, every day a new death is addition to those names already know. In Peru, August 8th, Olga (Nemesio Cerpa Cabanillas) was torture and murdered in her business in city or Paramonga. She had received a cut in the neck. Unfortunately there is no any information about the murders.

Something positive happens in Argentina. The murder of Pelusa (Sergio Liendo), who was death in November 29th, 2006, was found. After three years, three men were arrested: Sergio Alfredo Núñez (20), Silvio Elías Soria (20) y César Javier Ulivarri (19). Was surprising is the aged of those who are considered the answerable of Pelusa’s death. We hope if they are guilty, they receive their punishment.
