Everlasting stories: Stories without an end: Journey through Honduras, Dominican Republic and Turkey. Summary of intolerance

Every few months, too close each one to the other, we must update the list of injustice events and death, open with pain the wounds of the absence of trans brothers and sisters who have disappeared by hatred and intolerance.

On this occasion we highlight the abuses that occurred in Honduras, for more than ten years. We thank Patricia Anderson, a human rights activist in the country who socialized this information, so that we can take a tour of these abuses.

Honduras
The UN Special Report about murders and arbitrary executions announced death threats directed to members of minorities: more than 200 gays, transvestites, trans and sex workers were murdered between 1991-2001.

On January 9 th , 2009 a trans human rights activist from Honduras is murdered. In addition to that, she received in her back more than 5 shots in the place she was working.

In November of 2008, a young trans sex worker was killed by a gunshot to the forehead and left spin on streets in the capital of Honduras.

On August 15 th , 2004 a transvestite commercial sex worker was severely beaten by officers of the Preventive Police (Station 4) in Comayagüela.

On September 6 th , 2004 a sex worker was brutally stabbed by a group of homophobic people.

On July 15 th , 2003 a trans businessperson of sex workers, who was nineteen years, was shot and killed in San Pedro Sula by a police officer that used a weapon.

On September 3 rd ,1998 , another was shot and killed. Police suspected that a customer refused to pay for his services and killed this person.

Dominican Republic
We can add to our handbook what happened recently in Dominican Republic. In Santo Domingo , a drag queen was beheaded and left in the Alma Rosa Park on March 8 th . This is Kirsy (Ubri Francisco),24 years old, from San Juan de la Maguana. Kirsy entered to a gold rose car and minutes later his body was found abandoned. This death has hurt the trans community of Santo Domingo and is a proof of trans evident unprotection, and that trans people have to live with risks in their health and integrity everyday because they have no guarantees to get a decent occupation.

On January 22 nd , 2007 another trans was killed in the nearby Mirador Park and the case is still waiting for the results of the investigation. It was "The Doll" (Fabio Soto) who received three wounds with a knife. People demand investigations about these cases to find the responsibles. Tita, Kirsy companion work, has demanded justice to be done "because we are humans and not monsters as the others think."

The organization Transsa prepared a peaceful public protest demanding justice and to stop hate crimes of young trans dominicans as Madonna, Blondy, Naty, Yamilex, Danger, Pamelita on Monday March 16.

Turkey
The murder of Ebru Soyka, a transgender human rights activist recognized, has mourned the international community. On March 10th of this, Ebru aged 28, was assaulted and murdered in her home in central Istanbul . Members of the association reported that Lambda Istanbul Ebru had applied to police protection and guarantees for his life for the harassment of a man who already had beaten and threatened with death. Two weeks before his unfortunate death, the suspect had been arrested but was released within two hours. Today is in research as the prime suspect.

Lambda Istanbul, an organization that fights for human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and transsexual complained to Human Rights Watch that this was the second time one of its members was killed by her gender identity. Before Ebru, they suffered the loss of Ahmet Yildiz, 26 years old, who was shot leaving a cafe near Bosporus , without being found any guilty person.

Ebru was one of the most enthusiastic to eradicate police harassment. It is believed that this was what triggered his death. There were 146 cases until a few years ago Lambda Istanbul had been documented and reported to relevant authorities: many of them had been done by members of police forces, which have been forgotten and dismissed.

We expect that the state responds to these abuses and to fulfill its task of protecting the lives of all its members without exception.
