¡No men no women: binarity sick us!

This October 11th, activists trans and intersex from Corunha, Barcelona, Bilbao, Brussels, Donosti, Gasteiz, Lisbon, Madrid, Paris and Zaragoza are going our street to make visible discrimination, violence and vulnerability that suffer in society, although discourse of equality and respect of human rights that is in fashion nowadays. It is an action that celebrates is twelve editions, but this year is focus against pathology of identities that not fit in binarity.

Transsexuality is consider a disorder of sexual identity and this action is looking for stop consider it as a disease only because don’t fit in the binarity. This is especially important in this moment in which American Psychological Association announces a revision of sexual identity disorders by doctors that where denounce for therapies to “correct” homosexuality, transsexuality and intersexuality from childhood. The pathology of Trans and intersex identity has huge consequences in legislation around the world that recently had been approving to allow change of sex and name. In those legislation hormone is a requisite, its procedure had a secondary effect that is forbidden having kids, because after two years genital organs loose their reproductive function. In some legislation sterilization is a prerequisite as in Holland, Austria, Finland, Germany and Belgium.

That is why this European initiative is very important and we hope other organizations in the world join to this denounce under the slogan “¡No men no women: binarity sick us!” get out streets this second Saturday of October.
